Enterprise Skillnet boost as subsidized training continues into 2018

Enterprise Funding Available In 2018

Rural Enterprise Skillnet are delighted that our funding application for 2018 has been successful. We are committed to the promotion and facilitation of training / learning. We are rolling out a very exciting programme across sectors including Agri / Forestry, Leisure and indigenous local rural business in the North West.

The vision for 2018 includes continuing expansion of the Rural Enterprise Skillnet network with a further emphasis on the agri-food and agri forestry sector which will be a direct response to our Training Needs Analysis carried out among our member companies in the Autumn of 2017. Rural Enterprise Skillnet intends to focus on farm efficiencies and market specification as farmers have seen a decline in incomes, unpredictable market prices and continual changes in market specification. We intend to ensure our training programmes respond to help rural business meet these demands.
The Rural Enterprise Skillnet will deliver key objectives, including:

1. Cost-effective and innovative programmes via peer learning methodology utilizing an enormous bank of both contemporary and generational industry experienced skills and knowledge, integrating with existing knowledge transfers and accommodate the busy schedules of members.
2. Value for money training which clearly demonstrates a return on investment for the beneficiary, and improve their long-term employability.
3. Integration of training for employed, part employed and unemployed individuals to enhance attendee’s knowledge.
4. A training and networking plan that responds to existing and emerging challenges facing the sector as articulated by members through the TNA process.
5. Elimination of barriers and increase participation in skills development for individuals who have had none/or little access to date to training to improve their long term competitiveness.
6. Emphasis on up-skilling, re-skilling, cross skilling of workers across sectors and/or regions for increased mobility, employability and enhanced business performance for the network members.

Since 2010 the Rural Enterprise Skillnet has been providing (where possible) training to job-seekers who train with people in employment and attend training at no cost.

Rural Enterprise Skillnet Network Manager Brenda Donagher outlines the 2018 training vision “Conscious of challenging times for rural communities and a lack of access to new income opportunities, we are in continuous contact with our existing customer base to ascertain their changing training needs. Maintaining competitiveness, improved efficiencies whilst retaining jobs are two the strongest concerns coming forward from our members and our training plan will help address these needs to ensure that small indigenous business can become more competitive and efficient and thus at least retain existing jobs in the current difficult climate”.
